The very first Little Caesars location was opened by Marion and Mike Ilitch over 50 years ago in Garden City Michigan. Mike was following a different profession as a shortstop in the Detroit Tigers farm system and while the rest of his teammates would be trying to find the local ballpark Mike was out searching for the neighborhood pizza joint. Finding great pizza was something that he was passionate about early on.

Unfortunately an injury meant that Mike had to give up on his dream of playing baseball but it ultimately led him to open the very first Little Caesars. It was around the time when Mike and Marian started to have kids that Mike realize that this was going to be his way of supporting his family and thought to himself he needed to open one restaurant for each of their kids to make sure that he could provide for them. Little did he realize that what started as a way to support his family turned into a national pizza restaurant chain.
