In January 1958 Del and Helen Johnson opened their first restaurant with just $50 and the cash register.T The idea was to open and affordable steakhouse that soon had people lining up for a sizzling $1.19 sirloin. The menu is simple, two types of steak plus a small salad and bread rolls. Families were now able to enjoy steak dinner without spending the weekly food allowance. Sizzler grew rapidly evolving the concept of adding salads, sandwiches and seafood. Today Sizzler's commitment to broadening the casual dining experience continues to evolve and improve as we grow to become one of the nations leading restaurant chains.
Sizzler now has over 260 locations worldwide. With 178 locations in the United States and Puerto Rico and 85 locations internationally including locations in China, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Australia. At each location the focus is a family casual dining restaurant that emphasizes high-quality food, hospitality and value. Sizzler introduced the "fast casual" service model over 50 years ago and today guests continue to order and pay upon arrival and are able to enjoy their endless salad bar and fresh-baked breads until their meals are delivered by servers who also will refill beverages, cleared tableware and to tend to other needs as needed.
